Hamilton 993 case question "Click" to Login or Register

I just picked up a 993 with a SN of 710087. This mvt is not marked 993, but the book shows it to be a 993. Several questions: The watch mvt seems to be a bit loose in the Champion case. I am 100% sure it is NOT the original case, but should there be a sizing/dust ring to snug it up? Also, it is a very old movement, but the book (Price Guide) is unclear as to what year it was manufactured. I see a SN discrepancy at about this time. Someone will know. Also it is lever set, and comes with a RN dial. Now, since it is a RR grade equivalent, were RN dials common? It just arrived so no photo yet. The movement is really very pristine looking for a 100 + year old watch.

Mike - I can't help too much about your case and dial questions, but the watch was made in 1908 per the Gelson serial number list in the Hamilton forum.

Gelson Serial Number List

Left click on any part of the page and it will enlarge so you can read it.

This is the most accurate serial number list for Hamilton watches. I will defer to the experts to advise you of the case and dial issues.
