Hard to see but is the fork where it fits into the roller jewel broken on one end. pivots on staff look broken. SOmeone wrote on dial. Is that a stand at bottom of dial or did someone get hungry and take a bite out of it. Also hard to see but a couple of the jewels look cracked.

I don't recall seeing so many holes in a 4992B but maybe I didn't pay that much attention, is that a balance screw broken off at it base?

I thought the same thing Tom but I never took one apart only know from what I seen on other watches. I thought at first screw was broken but looks like you can see through the hole at the staff.

So far, the “budding watchmaker”
• carried out a quick dial conversion to pick up the missing 1-12 hrs but no AM –PM markings, shoddy should have added those also.
• Pallet fork damage when trying to fit a new pin, so filed the top down a little also no doubt bent it then glued the rest in.
• When re assembling threw the gears in place and screwed the plates down, don’t worry as it tightens they punch new holes in the jewels.
• Same process with balance staff upper and lower shot
• Then to time the watch, filed heads off like slices of cheese the best one is he filed the meantime screw head down on one of the matched pair, and of course a good dollop of super glue to the roller and everything else around….
So that is only the first look I am sure more problem await…..

Still not sure how he did this one, I can only figure lifting the plates while fully wound and letting the barrel teeth slide across the center wheel. Eek Roll Eyes

Well, bent shaft, wobbly wheels and all, it's still keeping perfect time absolutely to the very second of being reset last Tuesday, so even in questionable condition they keep perfect time after leaving Chris's bench. Wink

Still, I don't know why you're fighting that one! It's a mess! Confused

Regards! Mark

Well looks like I have success on this one finally, I spoke with the owner and said it wasn’t going to be cheap and he said to go ahead, it took far longer than expected but so much time invested in it could not abandon it by then, so far it running well now, will need a few days to be sure!.. Mark, good to hear yours is also working now that’s another one rescued Smile
