As a way to understand what was happening in the 1906-1907 time frame in regards to high end watches. Can someone look at Hamilton 950s that were produced in the 1906-1908 time frame and see when they were sold to get an impression of the production to sales lag time.

Claude, the 950P and L were first produced in 1909 and 1910 respectively and they both sold within a few days for the first couple hundred I looked at. For the 1905 - 1908 period I looked at the ledgers for the 946 to get something comparable to the 950. The 200 watches I looked at produced in March and April 1905 were not sold until September 1906. In 1908 I checked 100 produced in April and May and they typically sold in around 3 or 4 months and often less. I don't know if that is representative for other high end watches or just a data point for the 946 with whatever was influencing their sales.

I wanted to get an impression via Hamilton why with the grade 350 with only 1000 made it was another 23 years before Elgin produced another 23j 16s movement. The 214 was a big seller but this would have been around the time that Mr Ball would have been working to get the 18s eliminate from RR use. Off the top of my head in the 1907-1917 time frame there were at least 2 recessions so I wanted to see if the Hamilton records would show anything.
