Bill - Waltham did make a Cronometro Victoria for export to primarily South American countries. If I read the serial number correctly, this is a 16 size, 15 jewel, model 1899 and is a 2 star watch per the guide. Whether the parts are correct or not, I will have to leave to the experts. I would be a bit concerned about the timing as the regulator is not on center. Also, it has been recased.

Thanks Mary Ann,
That is what it thought it was also. It was listed as an adjusted movement, and that would have made it the 18s rarer one, I thought. I have also asked him about the regulator, as it was supposed to have been serviced etc. I could tell it had been recased, but that was not to much of a worry for me, as I am sure it has been in this case for some period of time. Hopefully it is not a Frankenwatch, and put together with pieces, and some Waltham experts will lokk at the movement and be able to tell me.

I have one of these that I cleaned up a couple months ago and would be glad to look at anything you have in question.

Hi Dave,

Yours looks like a 16s 15j unadjusted movement ?
This one was advertised as an adj movement, so I assumed it was an 18s 17j adj. But as Mary Ann says the serial number points to a 16s 15j. I guess I should have asked prior to buying it, but have sent the seller an e-mail asking why he thought it was adj. Also the Hunter Case this is in has the same "Sun" pic on an Estrella marked case, so feel it might be a case for the watch, but as you note by the screw marks, something else at one time, was in the case I would say.
When I finally get it I'll post and then hopefully get the goods on it, I really just wanted some info prior to paying for it, and am waiting for a reply to my e-mail with him, either way it appears to be a slightly rare model.
Thanks for any advise you can give me on this,
Bill

According to the Vol. 1 of Roy Ehrhardt (which I have up for auction right now), shows your watch as the 16s that Mary Ann found, it is a 2 star watch like she said.

Ehrhardt shows the 18s model as a 1883 which is a full plate watch, it also says that no watches or factory advertisements had been seen, so he didn't know if the 18s existed.

I found your auction where you bought the watch, I would say you did well. It is the hunter model which is worth even more & it appears to be the original case with the sun emblem on it. I would say you did well. original case, original dial. just not adjusted like the seller said.

Hi Tom,
I thought I did reasonably well the watch from the pictures looks in good shape, the dial perfect, case looks good. It was mainly just the adjustment quote that got me wondering. I do believe the case is original, don't know why the case marks are on it though. Thanks for the encouragement about the price, you know how you always wonder.

I know what you mean Bill, until you get it in your hands you never know.

About the other case screw marks, they seem very close to the actual case screws, I was wondering if someone put it in the case a little slanted & then realized what they did & readjusted it.

After looking at the photo again, I think what I said about the case screw marks wouldn't work, they do not move in the right pattern.

Oh well, I guess we will see when you get it.

Bill, From my information the Chronometro Victoria was for export to Mexico and points south. As I remeber, Waltham made them "pretty, but did few major adjustments of these, although they run quite well. As for value, I think that mine is all "original" except for the second hand, and I hold it at about $450.00

Hi Dave,
I think this one is original also, the case marks are strange but it definitely has the original Estrella case with the sun logo.
We will see when it arrives, what we have.
Can hardley wait to post now, and get the true picture when it can actually be seen.
Thanks again to you all,
Bill
