A nice private label Jeff, been some of these sighted previously but mostly in hunter case configuration and usually in 16 Jewel versions.

I know Roy mentioned them in one of his books but only the 16 Jewel Hunter version. This one being 17 Jewels would probably have been made post 1901. Also I would be lifting the dial to make sure it is a 17 Jewel version and not a 16 JewelSmile

Thanks for information Bila I would have thought a private label catagory would have been more along the lines of someone's name or a company name and thought this was more like a model name such as us watch co "the president" or "bunn special" as examples interested on members views on this

Yes Jeff normally would be the case, Columbus did not have that many named Grades to my knowledge, some that come to mind readily were the "Railway King, Time King, Columbus King, Champion and the North Star.

In all the advertising I have seen for the Columbus Watch Company most of there watches were listed as "Numbered Grades". Also, your watch comes from after the changeover from the Columbus Watch Company to the New Columbus Watch Company.

That one of yours reminds me of a "number 4" grade which were adjusted to Temp, Iso & Positions.

Thanks bila is something I was unsure about anyway is 17 jewels balance was sluggish when purchased and I'm sure when I stripped it down had a jeweled center wheel dial side

Maybe I've missed something here, but isn't this watch listed in the price guide under Columbus Watch Co. 18s as "The President" 17JGJS, adj, 2 tone, D.S. dial, OF?

Shown as a 1 star watch.

Looks like the same one to me.
