So what ime leading up to does this mean Solid Gold or rolled gold?

David,
That means it's not solid gold. Just gold filled to a greater amount than the usual 25 year case. In other words, a thick gold plate.

Actually probably a "gold filled" case as opposed to "plated" gold or "rolled" gold. The latter two were generally used on lesser quality cases resulting in thinner gold over the base metal.

These "permanent" cases were sometimes referred to as 30 year cases. I guess after 30 years they fiqured you would not be able to hold them to their claim.

Excellent responses!

The easiest way I found to remember is that any reference to a warranty time period up to and including "Permanent" always means a Gold-Filled case.

The Hamilton 900 is a great watch, it will be interesting to see Dave's "after" pictures!

Remember, I still have that 900 "braille" movement" that is really hurting for a 12 size hunter case with no Bezel or Crystal. Anybody?

Hamilton never made a 12 size Hunter. Thus you will need another brand for a case.

A "perfect 900" movement! (not wound)

I was thinking of "sleeving" a 16 size, or re-boring a 12 size HC.

Are you sure the dial is a braille dial. It looks like a regular dial with the numbers removed.

Just out of curiosity I looked up the braille number system. Those don't match. That's a good catch.

Thank you Robert! Closer inspection reveals those are HOLES! Not Braille dots, so someone yanked the Gold numbers off an otherwise good dial! I guess I can go on a "Numbers quest", or look for another dial for this. The case probably went to the Gold Digging numbers yanker also. btw, I bet that was a solid gold case! Roll Eyes
