Jim CopeBrass Doesn't Usually 'Glitter' Like This...
...have just acquired this 18S Waltham 15J pw and wonder if this 'damaskeened' back plate was indeed 'gold flashed' as I suspect?...the screws, including the case screws, all appear to be gold or filled...

Mark CrossIf that's brass, that's the PRETTIEST brass movement I've ever laid eyes on!!

Ralph RehnerJim,
Be careful if you decide to put a little extra shine on those screws. I've heard them refered to as "gold washed". Get to frisky with the cleaning and polishing and that gold will wash right off. I know first hand...won't make that mistake again.
Nice piece you have. Waltham was made some fancy stuff long ago.

Jim Cope...thanks fellas!!!...and Ralph, I'll be careful w/the screws and back plate for that matter...I treated them as I have all the tu-tone movements I've come across in the past and carefully hand-washed 'em...this one I'd like to put in a display case but hate to separate it from it's apparent original coin silver one...btw: good to see your post!...you'll have to treat us here to more of your latest restoration projects!...Regards!...Jim
