The 16S 19J Railways were among Hampdens best...

However, their predecessors, the 18 Size Railways were just as good, in my opinion. I get more excited about this kind of stuff than the ones costing thousands of dollars, simply because I can afford to keep it!

Feast your eyes on this 1889 Beauty, courtesy of Robert Jones, and now in my personal collection.
It's Bangin' Em off as well as the finest Bunn Special, and for a Hampden that's sayin something.
For a pre commision RR watch, I don;t see how you could do much better in the late 1880s. Check out the rose gold screws and regulator. Missing one balance screw, which I can easily find.

Thanks, Robert!

Very nice watch. I have taken notice of Hampden watches the last few weeks. Yet another thing to add to my wish list.

Really nice Tom!That Tucker regulator I believe is supposed to be solid gold. Those that snicker at Hampdens ahould remember that the first Hamiltons were "inspired" by the Hampden 18s design.Best regards, Ted.
