The serial # on my 950b is s388...I know it was produced in the first year, but was it in the first run? How many were produced in the first run?

Dennis, if you look at the John F. "Gelson" list on page 22, it will show you what you are looking for.

Gelson List

The first run goes from S001 to S1100 so it looks like there were 1100 of them in the first run, and yours would be part of it.

Any chance you have a picture?

Regards,
Larry

Speaking of John Gelson, I just bought a new old stock BS 163A movement with the Montgomery style dial with the 60 hour/6 position markings...it has never been cased and it was kept in a special tin in his safe. Needless to say, it is mint! I'll attach pics of it here when it arrives...

Is that all red letter markings on the movement?

I have that same dial on a 163 that I just got Dennis. I have heard that the dial alone can draw some really big money to the right buyer. I don't take them apart though.

Larry
