Hello, I'm a new member, and this is my first post, aside from a bid on a watch. I have been collecting, repairing, buying and selling antique pocket watches for about 6 years now,and have about 50 watches in my collection, and about 300 parts watches. I like 18 size American watches, and carry an American Watch Co. Waltham, model 57 PS Bartlett keywind for my everyday timepeice. I got this NYS off Ebay a while ago,and can't find any reference to it anywhere. It isn't a model 4,but more like a worm gear without the worm gear. 5 digit serial number. Anyone know what it is? thi NYS

I cannot help you much with this one, but hang on a little while and there will be a few of our experts come along and answer all your questions.... Again, Welcome on Board 185 Special, we are going places.... Regards, Jerry

Cecil, What you have here is a very hard to get 18s NYS Ring Gear Watch. Notice Pt.#45 is a worm gear used on the second model. I think I have only seen a handfull of these in 25 years. Wouldn't you know I could come up with a scan of the parts. I have two questions, is the watch running, and is it for sale? Brian C.

Hey Guys, Thanks for the response. Brian, thanks for the picture,I saved it for future reference. Yes the watch runs great, keeps very good time, and is really in very good condition. I kinda collect NYS watches,so I don't want to sell it. I knew it was something special, when I saw it on Ebay. I have looked at thousands of watches, and this is the only one like it I have ever seen, and that doesn't happen very often. I also have a NYS Convertible, several Chronographs, including one Dan Patch, and I also have the only NYS keywind that I have ever seen. I have some very nice watches in my collection, including a Hamilton 950E,a 992E,and several Illinois Bunn Specials, both 16s and 18s,including two 18 size two tones,an 18s South Bend "The Studebaker",several Rockford "RG" models, and many others that are worth more than the NYS,but my first antique watch was a NYS and they are kinda special to me.

Cecil, I don't blame you for not wanting to sell the watch, it's a keeper. Brian C.
