Beautiful looking case too Claude. Thanks for showing it.
When I researched my 348, it came from a 1,000 piece run, but overall, the total made was about 3900. Still a very rare movement. One of Elgin's best of that time.

It must be one of those errors in the Elgin "yellow" grade book, sometimes I look at the Erhardt Elgin grade book, sometimes Wayne's site the grade book shows only 1000 made but there are errors noted on the Elgin site about the grade book maybe this is one. David I checked again and Roy E in his yellow Elgin guide book shows the 348 with one run from 12,120,001-12,121,000. Mine would end up being described as grade 183, the one you list fits in the grouping 11,612,000-11,613,000, mine fits into the run 11.185,001-11,186,000 also listed in the Roy E's guide book as a 183. When you search the grade 348 on the Elgin site, in 2000 the comment was "3K made" then 5 months later the comment is 3400 made then in 2002 the comment is 3698 made and those were the only ones sold on ebay that were captured in 2 years. I guess there was some that Roy E marked as 183's that Elgin made as 348's.
