Quick Course on Waltham Up/Down Indicator "Click" to Login or Register

Hello I have a Waltham 23 Jewel with Up/Dn indicator. I was asked if it was a Crescent Limited or something like that name. I knew it was a Vanguard but I was wondering the difference.

Crescent Street was a grade name as was Vanguard. Vanguard was their best grade in WI's

Both are priced generally the same in the 16 sizes even though the Crescent Street was a 21J and the Vanguard was a 23 J. The grade name is marked on the mvmt as is the jewel count. Vanguard's vs. Crescent Street in the 18 size is a different story. In the 18 size the Crescent Street was a 21 jewel only. The Vanguard's came in 17j, 19j, 21j, and 23j in the WI's and the Vanguard grades all outprice the Crescent Street.

Help?? I hope Smile

regards,
bb

That is great news since I now have a Vanguard model. A tiny flaw hard to see with cover on there is a chip on the face edge somewhat repaired. I see that a lot with porcelain dials I wonder if it is a dumb way to see how the face is made. Anyway thank You for most excellent info.
