Hi, I wonder if anyone has ever seen this before? I just got a Hamilton 917 with both boxes, but when I took the back cover off there is no serial number. I have another one, and the serial number is in the same place as the serial number on the Hamilton 992B. Thanks for your help. Smile

Lawrence you digit camera should have a "macro" setting when you press the flowerpot icon, then it will focus very well for closeups.

Ok I will give it another try. It is a Canon EOS 40D and I have the lens on Macro but did not have the setting on the flower.

Thank you David

At least on my Hamilton 917, the number is between the balance bridge and the winding gear bridge, as shown in the attached photo.

I know Ethan, I have one that has it there also. I also have one that does not, for whatever reason. Thank you everyone for your help.

I think I can explain why one of your 917s has no number. Hamilton made the 917 from 1936 to the late '50s or possibly even the early '60s. It is my understanding that some time in the early 1950s, Hamilton stopped serial numbering at least certain pocket watches because parts had become so interchangeable by then that serial numbers had no functional purpose. Thus, for example, neither of my Hamilton 945s have serial numbers.
