What is your opinion of the initials engraved on the back of this case belonging to Fred L. Joy

I would agree that they are apparently upside down Larry
It appears left to right "F" for Fred, "J" for Joy, and "L" for middle initial. I think usually the last name was supposed to be the middle initial of the three
