I had to do some work on a 992 (new balance staff and cleaning). When I put it back together the darndest thing happened - the crown wheel no longer engages the winding pinion. The 992 does not have a crown wheel washer (like an Illinois has). I took one of my 992's apart and put the crown wheel and winding pinion from mine into the other 992 and it does not work. I took the crown wheel and wining pinion from the other and put into mine, and it works fine. Anybody have an idea? Thanks. This is really crazy.

Hey Mark, you may have already checked. Look at the setting lever. That would seem to be the only thing that would be different.

Bob: The problem was under the dial. The set lever spring screw was loose. Thanks for pointing me under the dial.
