A Really Odd Dial "Click" to Login or Register
posted
Hello everybody;

My latest acquisition, (it arrived today) is yet another Columbus, and again in a nice hunter case. The unusual (to me anyway) thing is the dial. Has anyone ever seen this one before? I did look it up on Google and found another site selling one like it, but it was in really bad condition. This one has "Columbus Watch Co. and "Jackson Park" underneath. Is it a unique movement and dial do you think?

If anyone can make out the entire script on the back of that round paper, that would be really nice.

As always, your comments are most welcome.

Thanks everyone

Bud

Hey, Eric, oh, man, that is just beautiful. What a tremendous looking watch.

May I ask how you came to own such a fine looking speciman?

Regards, and talk to you tomorrow.

I love those "stick" RN dials. I've been meaning to add one to my collection.

Aren't these stick dials meant to signify The Woodmen of the World? They also have watch fobs.

Thank you Tom, I really appreciate this information. I love to have the history on an item. It make it more "valuable" and I don't mean in in a monetary way.

Hi Ed;

Me too, I wouldn't be surprised if I could ever find the original owner that the watch might have been owned by a logger or a logging company owner.

Thanks Richard, and thanks so much for that link on Jackson Park. I didn't know a thing about it until now. Very interesting and great to know the history behind the name. Very nice.

Thanks again Richard.

Hi Mike;

I looked up "Woodmen of the World" and found some interesting information. I particularly like the tombstones that looked like part of a tree that had been cut. I think I'll dig further to find out if there is a definite connection to these log watch faces.

Thanks a lot Mike.

Bye the way Eric, if you ever get tired of that old watch cluttering up your collection, you know where to come, right?

"Cluttering up your collection" LOL, I just kill me sometimes.
