Hi Gents, In some of the recommended reading and listening to a few of you talk... I frequently hear reference to a gentleman's watch. What would you consider a gentleman's watch and who would have carried them? (is it carried them? or worn them?) Engraved OF

A Gentleman's watch was a marketing ploy by the watch co'S {plural} To convince the Public to think that buying a 12"s watch would make them look like the bomb. . When in fact. they could make 3- 12s watch for the same amount of raw material as 2-16s watches. It does not seem like much but lets say you are making !00,000 watches. To answer your Second Question. The answer would be Gentleman would carrie them. 1920 thru 30 was the age of putting on The Ritz. Look how sporting they are. With there Art Deco look.

I consider a gentleman's pocket watch to be a timepiece that was used as a fashion accessory, without which you would not have been considered completely dressed for formal occasions back in the day. Best Regards, Ed
