It is gilded with a damaskeened top plate. Quite a story there, it has been sitting in my "to do" stuff for about four years after the Mainspring arbor "zinged" into the upper stratosphere. Recently the arbor returned to this world, so I finished it up and was rewarded with a very well behaved watch!
