Please help Identify!!! "Click" to Login or Register

I picked up this movement this week. It is a fusee movement marked "Hammond & Co. New York". When I first looked it up, it looked to be a Charles Frodsham Movement. It even has cap jewels on the escape wheel and pallet fork! The part that does make me question that it would be one made by him is that the dial is a three footed dial. Any information or help identifying this movement would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jared

Can't help you identify the maker other than it might be Samuel Hammond of Brooklyn NY. Back in the 1850's he was listed as Samuel Hammond & Co. watchmaker.

Perhaps someone could explain to me if there is a way to tell early American made watches from European made watches. Since there were colonial watches made in this country how do you tell the difference.

I just wanted to follow-up with more information on this movement. I went ahead and took the dial off yesterday. The dial side of the movement is also fully jeweled. The escape wheel and pallet fork are capped on both sides. The movement is at a minimum a 19 jewel movement, as I cannot see any jewels on the center wheel without taking the movement apart. Since the movement is running, I don't see any reason of taking a chance of breaking anything on this by taking it apart. I am also going to be needing a case for this, if anyone has some old fusee style cases sitting around. I'll try to post movement size later, although I'm sure its going to be all but impossible to locate one for it.

I have a couple so I will check when you get the measurements. You might want to include a photo of how it attaches to the case. A lot of the fusee movements I have worked on have the movement held in place with a pin so the movement swings out of the case.
