I recently acquired a 16 size Longines Marked "Mail & Express Adjusted 5 Positions" 17 Jewel. It seems to run fine although it needs cleaning. However it is missing the micro regulator buggy whip. The case it is in is not correct and I am seeking information as to what the market was originally for these watches. I would also like to find the buggy whip regulator and if anybody has a 16 size hunter case I could use that. HELP!

Hi Deacon, I'm surprised that there hasn't been any answers about this Longines. It definately looks railroad grade, being 5-position lever set.I've seen a picture on this site somewhere of the same bridge model, but marked I think Express Leader, but I tried to find it again but couldn't.My idea would be it was for the Canadian market, but it doesn't have a 24 Hr. dial, so I'm probably wrong. That mainliner case would be nice for another OF RR watch!I don't know of a hunter case for sale anywhere right now.You might have to get a whole low grade watch to get one.Someone out there should have the regulator whip for it, I don't think that should be too hard to find.Maybe Brian C. in New Hampshire ?Looks like a really nice Longines RR, I'm jealous!Best Regards, Ted.

I agree with Ted, nice watch. I guess I missed it when you 1st posted it. I will see if I can come up with anything about the markings. Unfortunately I do not have any of those movements for parts.

Just because it doesn't have a 24-hour dial does not mean that it could not have been used for the Canadian market. 12 hour dials were used extensively by the railways in eastern Canada.

Nice find. You should be able to find that regulator spring fairly easy as it is a right side mount on the balance cock. Most Swiss movements of that caliber had that whiplash style regulator, so a parts movement even from an Omega or Canadian Regina 16s should bring up that item.

Roland.
