There seems to be some references and mention of a William Nordhoff and Albert Knabe in the District of Columbia, Washington around 1893 as Jewelers. However I don't have the resources to expound further, sorry.
regards, bb

William Nordhoff and Albert Knabe, jewelers, had their store at 607 15th Street, N.W., according to Boyd’s Directory of the District of Columbia (1897), p. 700, accessible online via Google Books. That's a prime location, about a block east of the White House.

Thanks Gentlemen for the info, I had come across William Nordhoff but only has a seller of pianos and the like in the 1850's thru to the late 1890's. Wonder if it is the same person?
I have an Agassiz open face private label presumably sold by them, their name on the movement and dial.
It's a 16 jewel lever set open face watch with steel escape and double roller, has the snail cam regulator, I think it dates around the early to mid 1870's.
Thanks again to all for the info, I will contact you if I decide to sell it Steven.
Cheers
