Watch winding "Click" to Login or Register

Can anyone tell me why a watch would not have a full wind. This watch in particular is my I think Gallet, and it only lasts about 18 hours on a wind, but I have had this problem with both Elgins and Walthams?
Thanks,
Bill

There are a couple I can think of, if the mainspring has set it will not power the watch as long, the other is if the watch needs to be cleaned, as things start to gum up they will also stop the watch sooner. Usually both of these problems will act together.

That is at least my very untrained opinion.

Tom,
You're opinion is always well thought of for me, probably right on. The movement on this one looks a little dirty so a cleaning is in order I am sure. I will not wind this one anymore until I get them cleaned and serviced.
Thanks,
Bill
