I am trying to research a watch branded ONOTO to dial and Onoto Watch CO. to movement. The "Fine Nickel" case is marked SKS in an open fan and I found a similar logo on a Seikosha Laurel dated to 1913. The same laurel has IDENTICAL arabic numerals to dial. I attach a dial and movement images and the Laurel link. Any background much appreciated.

Hi there,

in early 20th Century Seikosha and in general Japanese retail shops in Japan had the common practice to put together movements, dials and cases from different sources.
In this case a Swiss mvmt is cased in a Seikosha case and the dial looks well to be of Japanese manufacture. Not the hour and minute hands which seem to have been applied posthumosly. Typically Japanese watches have hands of the style like the one of the posted link.

Due to the above reasons it is sometime difficult to ascertain the nature of an early Japanese watch.
