I have an Elgin Hunter 1911 18s Model 2 7J LS Nickel Full Plate movement. Just because it says Canadian Elgin on the dial I want to get it running and cased.

Will parts from a watch with exactly the same stats but made in 1900 have parts that will interchange?

Thanks

My guess would be - Yes...

Another "Elgin Hunter 18s Model 2 7J LS Nickel Full Plate movement"

What parts do you need to replace?

I don't know exactly the parts required but a hairspring for sure. I was looking at a cased one with a good hairspring as I need a case as well.

I am not too big on hunter movements and have been told that this dial will fit on an open face Model 2 movement. Since the one I was looking at on ebay has gotten beyond reason I may just wait for a suitable open face mvt for which I have a case.

Even at that I would still like to get the hunter running. My watch guy is away right now (He has been doing a lot more travelling since he met me Smile)but as soon as he is back I will know exactly what I need.

Jon, I edited the 1911 date into the original post.
