Thank you Enzo. These are really intersting links. From looking at the link you provided, it appears that the United Kingdom began replacing mechanical watches with "electronic" quarts models in 1981. Another intersting item is found on table IIIB, which indicates that at one time the Bonklip watch braclet was an issued item - in more than one size.
