Does anyone have a picture of a USAAC Type A-7 (Specification 27748, time and stop) 15 jewel wristwatch?

Thanks,

James

There is an image of one on page 200 of COMBAT FLYING EQUIPMENT U.S. Army Aviators' Personal Equipment, 1917-1945 by C.G. Sweeting. Smithsonian Institution Press c.1989

First issued in the 1930's with a white dial, but changed to black by 1940.

Best regards,
Greg

I don't have that book. Can you give some details about the watch? For instance what manufacturers produced the watches. I guess there must not have been many of them made. I've never come across one in 20 years of collecting.

Best,

James

The name of the manufacturer(s) are not provided in the book. The picture in the book looks like a chronograph pocket watch with strap lugs at the 10:30 and 4:30 positions. The strap is brown leather:

"it could be attached to the wrist with a brown leather band, or carried in the pocket."

It's described as a "secondary timepeice," I don't have one to photograph.

Best regards,

Greg
