Luftwaffe Message Center Clock (?)
Here are images of a Luftwaffe message Center clock. It is missing the wooden outer case.

What makes this message center clock unusual is the white paint on the otherwise gray plastic case. It looks like a professional, maybe a factory, paint-job. The paint also looks old.

Without over-speculating, if the pain job was done while in Luftwaffe service (always a big IF). I wonder what reason there may have been to paint one of these white?

Best regards,
Greg

Interesting question about the white paint job. If it was done by the Luftwaffe and not someone else at some later date - could be as simple as the clock's black paint was peeling and white was the most handy color on the repair bench that day, or maybe it could be something more thoughtful like painting it to match other things around the camp such as the desert khaki seen on so many things in North Africa or maybe the white seen on so many things used by winter troops as camouflage. My tendency is to go with the simplest explanation which is that it was done by someone at a later date - maybe in the 1950s or 1960s which would make the paint have a good amount of age to it.
