D-DAY
On this day in 1944 the Allied landing occurred on the beaches of the Normandy coast of France. Free French, British, Canadians, U.S., all took part in this massive assault upon the Axis Powers. While they were at it, their families back home drove trucks, worked in factories and did work girls usually did not do. But, I’m not all that keen on waving one flag.

While meditating upon the historic significance of this point in time, it is no less amazing that 61 years after this violent event, the nations of the former Axis and Allied powers are friends, partners in trade, and allies. While The Continent has not been free of strife, it has been steadily advancing the dignity of mankind. Consider the character of the people of these various nations who can set aside the firebombed, bullet-scarred bitterness of WWII and made such amazing progress together.

Best regards,
