Greg CrockettSmiths Royal Air Ministry Photo Processing Timer
For the photographer.
Gathering intelligence by aerial photography is almost as old as military aviation. Of course processing all of that film must have been a big job, requiring the right equipment.
Here we have a British Smiths wall timer of WWII vintage. It’s operated by pulling strings which hang from the timer and which have little cork balls on them.
It’s marked on the back with a King’s Crown A.M. as well as “M 2 Ref No. 14 B/ 646"
The dial is marked: SMITHS ENGLISH CLOCKS Ltd, CRICKLEWOOD LONDON.
