The 2F 5939 serial number makes it an early WWII vintage, and the U.S. Army notation on the back cover separates its "use" from the usual Navy Engravings there. Interesting research item, probably remounted in the wood thing for "home use".

The "hole" in the middle of the back cover should probably be plugged to help protect the movement.
