Car Clock or Large Pocket Watch
Hi

I have this Waltham 8 day Car Clock or is i a large pocket watch? I would like any information about this clock. What car would this have been installed in. This was given to me by my grandfather through my father. My grandfather owned gas stations and a general store. Not sure where he got it from. Any help.

Thanks

Sure looks like a car clock to me. My son-in-law just finished cleaning up and reinstalling a Lux car clock in the 48 Chevy he's restoring right now that favors this movement. Regards. Mark

If you check the serial number to find the approximate date it was made you would at least know what sort of cars were on the road then. Otherwise, in the early days, these clocks were sold to mount on any car you wanted a clock in.

In the first image below an identical watch to yours Keith. It is among a gazillion others carefully explained in a Bulletin article by Mel Kaye in the April 2002 edition. The article that runs from page 167 through 176 inclusive.

Same car clock as Keith's as shown in the article...
