Ansonia Brass and Copper Co ST 2
Lindell,
Here are the pics of the Ansonia Brass and Copper Company regulator that, except for the label on the weight partition board and the hands, I would have idenitified as a Rosewood Seth Thomas No 2. I know the Ansonia factory burned to the ground during the launch of these regulators and this clock makes me wonder if Ansonia purchased clocks from ST to meet their sales requirements. This clock has a movement and pendulum arrangement that looks identical to your Seth Thomas No. 2.

Yes, I see a "family resemblance" in the two clocks. Eek

Now, is the case design in keeping with those used by Ansonia at the time? Is this is essentially a "private label" of sorts or is it really more of a "hybrid" clock?

Very attractive, very interesting, thanks for sharing the images!

This Ansonia clock although similar to the ST #2 of the time period is not the same. The shape of the bottom is very different fron the #2. The decorated glass is very different also having some color in the design whereas the ST#2 was just gold in color. The movements are similar because they were Terry designed movements and he was involved with both firms at different times.

Derek,
Thanks for the comment. While it has the beauty of a well preserved Seth Thomas it is slightly different and that difference gives it a unique quality. This is the first Ansonia of this vintage I've come across. I would like to see others that must be in someones collection.
