Last weekend I went to California to visit relatives. I flew to LA and drove north on 101. On that drive, I noticed an exit for Solvang, California and remembered seeing an ad in the Bulletin from the Solvang Antique Center. On the way back to the airport, I detoured to Solvang, just for fun. As a clock experience, it was one of the best. They had no less than 100 tall case clocks, mostly European and in the 150 year old range. They have quite a few pinwheel regulators, mantle clocks, and other antiques. Mostly high end clocks. In addition, the people in the place were very accommodating. One of the things that intriqued me was a machine (I am sure there is a name for it) that played a piano and two violins. They not only had one, but two. The price on each was over $140 thousand US. If ever in California, the experience is worth the trip.
