Seth Thomas Drop Octagon 2334 Electric Movement
I have a Seth Thomas Drop Octagon model 2334-001 wall clock, which uses the D battery electric movement with chimes. The movement has an intermittent failure of the winding mechanism (clock stops).

I looked online for a replacement and the only one I find is a Japanese made Bim-Bam movement, but it is 6 1/2" wide and the original movement is only about 5 3/4". The wood case is only 6" wide (ID) and I have no desire to take a router to the case.

Anyone know of a replacement movement that is about the original size? The clock is from the late 70s or early 80s.

You didn't say if your clock strikes, but if it doesn't you might consider this one:

But before you do that, I would recommend you take a look at it and see if it can be repaired.
Look at this video: Pendulum Quartz
