New Haven Mainsprings "Click" to Login or Register
posted
I am working on a New Haven tambour with the round movement. The mainsprings are in cups similar to barrels. It appears to me that there is too much spring in the cup. The picture is of the Time spring but the Strike spring fills the cup/barrel also. Has anyone ran into this and do the springs really need to be this long?
Thanks for looking,
Joe

Joe,

That looks about right. Below is a picture of an Ansonia and a Keinzle.

Hope this helps.
