Hi, I finally went into an Antique Shop that I have driven past for years. YOU SHOULD SEE THE CLOCKS! I may go back and take pictures of them tomorrow, and let you see them. Of course, I went in to check out their watches, only 2 in the shop, but when I turned the corner of one space, THERE IT WAS! a huge space of nothing but CLOCKS. REALLY OLD, Really Nice. This space is run by an old man and woman, and some of their stuff is dirty and just "not kept" but there are many that are gorgeous, and spotless. Since I know nothing about clocks, I have no idea what they are, but the cases on some were breathtaking. Some had carved wood, some with stone?? (marble?)some real ornate, some real "nothing" I was standing there so frustrated, not knowing a thing about clocks, I immediatly thought of you guys, knowing you would all love them. They are only open on Thursday, Friday, & Saturday, for a few hours each day, but I'm going to try to get there this weekend for some pictures. I don't know clocks, but I know that $295.00 is not much for some of the ones there. Some were marked $1200.00 so I was real curious about that one, and they had no idea what it was. Naturally, I knew, who knew, the answer to that question. I will get back to you with pictures after the weekend. Boy I hope some of these are good ones. Even if they turn out to be junk, I'm sure this 82 year old lady would like to know what they are. Do I do what you do for watches? take photos of the movement too? Let me know what to shoot. (spacifically) (gotta get some extra batteries for this one) Thanks,

Shiela, I, for one, would love to see some pictures of the clocks. Whether you can get individual or group shots, I'm sure they will reveal some interesting things. It is often not easy to get a picture of the movements of a clock. It depends on case construction, and how much you have to do to "get at " the movement. If you can get some, go for it!! In some clocks the movement is more fascinating than the case. Thanks for thinking of us on the "clock side" of things!! Tom

Yes Sheila, i too would like to see the clock pictures too.I am getting into clocks, i got bit by the clock bug, ouch. Thanks Sheila in advance .

Hi, Went to the shop, it was closed. Just as well, because I needed more batteries anyway. I will be going there again on Thursday and take some pictures. There were some clocks with the movements exposed, when I was there the first time, and almost all of them were at table level, so I can get to them. The lady told me it would be fine for me to take as many pictures as I want. With a huge memory card and some extra batteries, I should be able to get plenty of pictures. These people open when they feel like it, so hang in there, and I'll let you know on Thursday if I got any pictures. I can't wait to go back, they have things I have never seen anywhere else, and some seriously old baseball stuff that one of my friends collects, and I hope to get for him for Christmas. His wife is into bottles, and they have an entire room of them, so I guess I will be digging through that room too. Can't wait to explore that place again. I'll keep you posted. Sheila

My wife and I stumbled across an antique store outside of Tyler Texas last month just like the shop you're talking about. Even his sign said he may or may not answer the bell (you had to ring to get in), but either way, please wait a few minutes before going....he could be in the back of the shop, and LOVED visiters. His collection of 'stuff' was mind boggling...I mean top quality high end everything, and in multiples. Had literally stacks (and I MEAN stacks!) of Seth Thomas wall clocks in several piles in one corner of the shop. Tall clocks, repeaters, you name it, it was there, and me with no camera! Regards. I drove the 30 miles and it is open on Friday, Sat., and Sunday, Not Thurs, Fri., and Sat.! Pooooooo Will go back tomorrow and try again. A couple of my friends are going with me tomorrow too, so it should be a good time. Of course, I may not be able to get Ronnie out of the pictures, he's a real cut up, and loves to torment me. His wife doesn't even defend me either. I'll have her tie him up with a rope for a while, so I can get some shots. I even got Russell looking forward to going too. It was gorgeous here today, sure hope it's as nice tomorrow. See ya later, with pictures! Sheila

I will be looking forward to see those pictures Sheila. Thanks for the effort you are putting into this.

Your welcome, I'm looking forward to going too! Good thing I'm short on funds right now, I would go crazy in there otherwise. My friends collect too, so it should be a good time especially if we go to lunch after. Maybe I can stall and we can eat late and I won't have to cook dinner tomorrow. Now that would be a "Good Thing" Sheila

Good news, and bad. I got pictures, but no names or anything, so you will have to let me know if you would like info on any of them. I'm going back with my friends on Friday so you can let me know. The place was PACKED and it's the first time I EVER saw a car there!! Number 1 Sheila

Great pictures Sheila, thanks for the family picture.Families are precious as well as the memories. Any idea what some of the gingerbreads were selling for?

Kevin, I noticed that most were marked $295 but she does take offers. I didn't look at all of them closely though. I'm going back on Friday with my friends and we are going to check them out really good with some better pictures. It was so busy that it was hard to get pictures that time, but we are hoping to spend the day there on Friday. I will let you know afer that. I didn't get all of them anyway, so hope to get the rest on Friday. I will keep you posted. Sheila

Sheila Sound like you made a good find in Maryland. Here in the midwest clocks far outnumber pocket watches in auction/antique shops.
