A clock came in with the following inscription on the key. Is there a German scholar out there willing to translate? "Uber 25,Jahre,Die laufende Uhr,Schwemmingen,?N" I have a photo, but could not get it to load. Thanks much, Dick

Dick, After some research the line translates to the following. "For more than 25, years, the running clock, Schwemmingen, ?N" It is not grammatically correct Deutsch as it it is not in proper sentence format. The word "Schwemmingen" has to be a village or town. The "N" could mean anything such as direction or could be short for something. It could be mixed Old-High Deutsch with mixed Middle or Low Deutsch. viele gruben, David Fahrenholz Fahrenholz Clock & Watch Timeless Service

David, Thank you for your generosity in researching this. I hope to someday return the favor. Best Regards, Dick Feldman

David, Thanks for the help and welcome to Chapter 185... Something tells me having an experienced clockmaker who understands German involved on our Discussion Site will prove to be a really great asset. Say, you already have! Make yourself comfortable and enjoy the ride my friend. Regards, Lindell
