Tall Clock, O. Roberts "Eton" O. Ca: 1808 "Click" to Login or Register

I thought maybe some pictures I found of my Oliver Roberts signed tall clock would be of interest.
In the late 1960's we were furnishing our home with Ohio antiques and found this scarce Ohio clock at an auction in Richmond, Indiana, just over the border from Roberts location in Eaton, Ohio.
The clock was amazingly complete. The glass was cracked and the finial was missing but the worst thing was an ugly coat of black paint over the wonderful Cherry case.
The pendulum, weights and even the little bell shaped lead puls were intact. The bottom board had not been broken.

$200 was the winning bid!!

The 30 hour wood movement ran well and we enjoyed the clock for many years until we moved into our Lake cottage with low ceilings.
