To sleep on time, and to get up on time. What could be better!!

Alright, what else is lurking out there. There has to be a tie or two.

Since my family thinks nothing of collecting watches, I plan on decorating my entire home on nothing but watches. heheh not really, just all of the lawn furniture they have to sit on when we have cookouts. I'm even going to cover an umbrella with watch material if I have enough.

Then I can say something wacky, like the words above, to make them all groan.

As collectors it is our duty to make up jokes about our hobby. Please list all the ones you can think of, so I will be prepared for the 4th of July picnic. No limits, we are adults here.

Sheila, I want you to promise me you'll get out of the house and go to Ocean City or Atlantic City, yes Atlantic City would be good, they don't have any clocks on the walls in the casinos.
You're starting to develop some real serious horological issues and thats not healthy.I can't imagine what your folks are going to think if you decorate your lawn furniture with a horological pattern.I'm begging you, don't do it.Build a deck or put Flagstone on your patio but please not the watch pattern umbrella.

Hi Andy,
lol I noticed that too. Just a size thing I guess.

Robert,
I do indeed need an outing. Ocean City is where I used to go, but I don't get out much these days.
I can't wait to use these, I may even wrap up in them!!! That will be fun.

Tom, I like the ties. So bad they're fun!

Hey Bob, This is what it's all about,

"It's a FUN thing"

Now, who wouldn't want to wear one of these! Wink

Hey Sheila!

Where did you get that fabric? I've been looking for some to make curtains for my clock themed bathroom. I only need a couple yards.

Thanx, Bruce Weeks

Sheila I think the question should be,who would want to wear one of these things.
And Bruce, what exactly is a clock themed bathroom? Is the toilet seat marked like a clock face with a chapter ring and Roman Numerals.Does your bathroom mirror have Calumet Baking Soda etched in it.I'm just curious.

OK OK OK you asked for it! my usually calm quiet living spaces just got upped to crazy, funky clock EVERYTHING! You want a clock toilet, YOU GOT IT! I've been thinking of new home furnishings lately, and you guys just gave me my new theme.!!!

Believe it or not finding clock and watch material was hard to find, even on ebay!
(got it on ebay)

I was only considering the material as a laugh, NOW they're a FOR SURE item on my list.

Anybody got that clear iron on waterproofing stuff for my material? Big Grin Wink

Gee Sheila, you would think all your major department stores would carry watch and clock fabric, there has got to be a huge demand for it.I know I'll certainly keep an eye out for your fabrics as soon as they take this ankle braclet off my leg.Its the least I can do.

Clocks in the bathroom? Humpf, nothing new at my house. There's been one in the bathrooms since the late 1960's, no other place to set or hang them.

Now that I can take a breath (my wife just had both eyes operated on for cataracts, she doing fantastic, BTW!) I'll get back to this.

Robert - A clock themed bathroom simply has clock touches: a small gallery clock (I've had it there since 1983, can't beat John's 1960's), 400d on top of the med cabinet (don't want to have to get it down too often), my Professional Engineer's seal (a large, cast iron piece shaped like a lion, the seal comes out of his mouth and the lever out of the back of his head [some day I'll post a picture]) and some other misc engineer related items as pure decoration. My wife thought that a window treatment with material that had clocks on it would be cute. So I tried to find some and was not successful at 'normal' fabric stores (but didn't think of eBay!) Now I'll look there.

Sheila - What category did you search under and what keywords did you use?

Thanx!

Hey J Bruce,
I had to look under Crafts, then pick the fabric catagory, once in the fabrics, THEN do a new search using Pocket Watch. If you just use Watch you may not get anything, or thousands of things that don't relate.
Here are a couple to check out.

That's great! Almost like the one on this page on top, but I like Your background better.

I like fun things like these.

I have not done anything with mine yet, been sick, but hope to get to it soon, now that I'm starting to feel better. Of course anything "WATCHES" makes me feel better.

I think the curtain idea is great, and I would love to see it when it's done. Actually I would love to see what you have already done in there.

I have lived with what is traditional for long enough, why not have fun or really enjoy where we live, with things we like so much?

Great Idea! Good luck.

Sheila,

I agree that fun is to be persued whenever possible.

I plan on posting some pictures of the new shop soon. I don't have a digital camera so I have to borrow the one from work.

The curtains will probably not be done real soon either as my wife deosn't know which end of a needle is the eye. I rely on my M-I-L who is now 83, so it happens, but slooowly.

I did get my new Howard Miller street clock installed and landscaped this last weekend. I'll include it in the posting too.

Hope you feel better soon.

J. Bruce,

As far as having fun goes, I have not had anything but responsibilities for over 38 years, so I figure it's time for as much "Fun" stuff as I can handle.

The great part about buying things that you would like to see in your home, is that you can take all the time in the world, to do with them what you want, when you want.
Working with them IS the fun to me.

Now, how about that Howard Miller Street Clock!

THAT IS SOMETHING I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE!

HURRY HURRY HURRY! you gotta take pictures of that one right away.

How exciting! Keep us posted.

Sheila,

Take a look at Tom Seymore's posting, "Largest clock I own." He has one on his side porch and has 2 or 3 photos of it. I'll get this one on in a week or two.

The cloth came last night. Pretty cute stuff!

Thanx,

Bruce

Sheila,

I can't believe how fast my M-I-L got the first curatin set done. I hung it in the bath last night. Cute stuff!

She is starting on the clock shop curtain now. Soon as that's up I'll post pix. Maybe I can get that cleaning staion pic fixed and post that too (won't load from the diskette).

How's your 'clocks-on-cotton' project coming?

See you,

Hi J. Bruce,
It's so nice to see your getting things done. I sure wish I could say the same. The material has been sitting here forever.

I'm in the middle of about 1,000 things right now and can't get a single thing done.

Even my son noticed that I was not my usual "Get it done now" person I have always been.

Summer "Melt you to death" does that to me though.

I can't wait to see your curtains!

Please post them when you can, I think they will inspire me a lot.
That's got to be so much fun in a bathroom, good idea.

Well, its curtains for me!

I finally get around to posting a pci of the curtains I had my M-I-L make up for the bath from the clock fabric Sheila turned me onto. Here's a photo of the main "clock themed" bath curtains alluded to in the earlier posts.
