My favorite watch, I wear it often my wife found this at a yard sale years ago. At the time I was just getting back to watches. I cleaned it and have been wearing it since. White 14K gold and a nice movement. Rich Kuhn IHC Member 155

Bill, there's really not much to tell. After admiring the pictures of the tonneau watches posted above, I decided I'd like one also. So I went about the task of "finding one". I was lucky and I just received it yesterday. It appears to be in very nice condition with a couple of minor wear spots on the YGF case, which as you can see has the plain bezel and engraved sides. The 17J movement is clean and running great, the dial and hands I believe to be original (although I'll let the Hamilton experts decide this). All in all I'm very pleased with my new toy, now I'll just need to look for another one. They definitely, kind of grow on you. Dave Freeman IHC Member 321

Magnificent! Thank you so much for the photo and your thoughts. Hamilton identified the first group of watches by shape: Cushion, Cushion Form (whatever that is), Square, Oval, Tonneau & Barrel. These early shapes, these early watches are really the start of an amazing history of wrist watch or wristwatch production. Many of the early Hamilton's were made in solid gold, or in gold fill. They can be found with plain bezels, or engraved versions. The can be found in yellow, white, or green gold. A few were also made in Two Tone. Will Roseman and Bryan Giouard, IHC Members, are much more expert on this area of Hamilton History. Nevertheless, I suspect that even more variations exist. I thank you, and everyone else who has contributed to this discussion. The Tonneau is one of the good looking/good wearing Hamilton watches. Bill Hansen IHC# 198 Life Member# 17

Here is another example of the solid white gold Hamilton Tonneau. I bet this will clean up very well. Rich, might you have a set of these hands? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5044898386 Bill Hansen IHC# 198 Life Member# 17

Bill i have some nos hands that might work they are original hands but no luminois material on them,,look to be the same as the ones on your watch. Looks like you got a very very nice watch and at a good price..

Samie, That is very, very kind. I appreciate it greatly. International dial has the ability to do an "aged luminous" that might match the dials that I have in my book of dials. I'll be in touch. Bill Bill Hansen IHC# 198 Life Member# 17

Dan, I find the Tonneau to be one of the quintessential designs. I just love it. Thanks for posting the picture. Bill Hansen IHC# 198 Life Member# 17

The right hand one has an unusually thick solid glass crystal, flat on the outer surface, but domed on the inner surface. I prefer glass crystals, but some are very thin and easily cracked. dan
