Robert V. JonesJolly Roger Illinois Wristie
Adam Hutira just called me to inform me of the Illinois I had up was a highly collectable Illinois model and thought I should post a thread up on the 185 so some of you collectors would have the chance to peek at it.

Rick VessAdam is quite correct --- and it looks like a nice one! Is that green paint or just a reflection above the 11 on the bezel? Is the bezel merely a little crooked in the photo, or might it have some slight wear down to the base metal on the LL corner between 7 and 8?
(Philosophical question: If the base metal is not brass-colored, is it really brassing?? LOL)
Good uck with it!

Robert V. JonesHey Rick I looked it over very careful with a loop when I listed it and I did not see any wear thru at all even on the tips of the lug which seem to be the first to wear thru. That green is some sort of waxy substance that seemed to be on several of the watches I got from this individual. I am not sure what it is but it comes right off with your fingernail, I just list them as I get them and do not even take the time to wipe a rag over them.

William J. Hansen, Ph.D.Good for you for not taking the bait and ending the auction early. You must have gotten at least one request. The Jolly Roger is a popular one. Great Design. Great watch.

Robert V. JonesHey Bill one thing you do not have to worry about me is ending an auction early. I do not play that game unless I dropped and broke something or accidently listed an item twice which my hosting service seems to have done a few times. I do appreciate Adam letting me know about this watch for I just thought it was another Illinois wristie. I know if I looked it up in the book and took more time to study them but but but I will think of a good excuse.

Robert V. JonesEthan & Ernest THanks for the pictures all I can say is that it was a good thing the watch I have listed does not look as good as you watches other wise it would be in the safe instead of the auction block. Gorgeous watches!!!!!

Jerry TreimanI notice that Rob's Jolly Roger has a plain bezel (not carved). Is one version more common than the other?
September 30, 2006, 13:59
Frank WilsonThe plain is more rare.
