Looking through my accumulation of civilian wristwatches, I found three working, Benrus 17J Auto Wind watches all of which look nearly the same; one is dated 1955. Another one has a wind-indicator, the short chubby red hand moves as you wind it. Unlike the one in the price guide, the wind-indicator on this Benrus pivots from the center, and not from the six o’clock position. Unfortunately, the dial was damaged at some point so that the up-down markings were entirely washed away. What did the up-down sector look like on this watch? Are Benrus Auto Wind watches of much interest to collectors today? Thanks, Greg

Hi Greg, The wind-indicator or as wristwatch collectors often call them "power-reserve" watches are interesting to many of us as collectors. In fact they are something I very much enjoy. ![]() Watches like your Benrus give us an opportunity to share our love of horology with others, practically everyone finds them fascinating! Post some pictures when you have a few minutes. Lindell ![]()
