I have a 1964 Accutron Rail Road Approved wrist watch. The battery seems to discharge very quickly (less than 6 months). I don't wear it very often. Its been clean and serviced, and the watch repairman says he thinks it may have a short. With a fresh battery it works well and keeps very accurate time. Does anybody have any ideas.

Steve, Get him to check the current drawn if it is a 218 should draw about 8-10 micro-amps. This is a basic part of the servicing procedure if its not setup correctly or worn/dirty will draw more (and may damage the index), the voltage and current draw readings have to be taken as part of the service, along with a good number of other tests/adjustments, humming is only the start of it
