Elgin Lord Elgin 30 jewel w/w
Hi again,
Just for information I have found the Watch case maker was Jonell Watch Case Co., out of Long Island New York.

Bill, how did you ascertain the movt is an AS1673? I ask because that adds to the mystery. Ranfft's pink pages show the AS1673 being manufactured in 3 jewel variations, 17, 21 and 25, not 30.

Here's a link to the specs for the AS1673

Eric,
I also posted on another forum and it was mentioned there, that it was. Seeing as I had no other mentions of the movement, I thought that could well be, and I grabbed at it. Not positive for sure and I definitely have no knowledge. I did find another 796 30 jewel in an elgin watch on the Vintage Watch Forum, from a few years ago, and that was also just labeled as a mystery watch. If you Google Elgin Grade 796 wrist watch the first selection is that forum. I could not copy the picture of that watch.
What do I know ??????? !!!!!! I was / am still hoping that someone will definitely tell me what I have.
Thanks,
Bill

Eric,
Upon re reading my postings and answers on another forum, I see I have a couple of answers as to what it is.
Both of these from guys that are quite knowledgable about Elgins, and they both say that Elgin put some 30 jewel movements into the 796 and that they are AS1673 movements, not a lot, but there have been a few of them noted particularly in Canadian watches.
