Could you help identify this elgin wristwatch movement.

I need to try to get hold of a complete balance but I need to identify the movement first.

Clive,

Among the many resources at IHC185 is our Technical Library, Serial Numbers and Site Links where you will find all sorts of references. Among the most popular is the Elgin Watch Collectors Database that will provide the information you seek.

Here is a link to your watch movement information...

Hope you and others find this worthwhile,

Lindell

Do not know if this will work for you but if you are interested you are welcome to it, I don't know what shipping would be to you.

I do not know enough about these if the balance wheel is interchangeable.

It is an Elgin 6 grade 101 11 jewel lever set serial #2212107, the balance looks good on it but I have never wound it to see if it runs.

I didnt know about the database you mentioned. I've now checked it out. Very, very impressive and an excellent resource ,thank you for the advice, much appreciated.

What a splendid offer.

I have to confess that I really struggle with the identification and interchangability of American watches. I'm OK with swiss because I use "Bestfit" catelogues but American watches are still a mystery.

Certainly it would be great to take you up on your kind offer if the balance is interchangable.

I'm more than happy to send you a cheque for the postage etc if you give me your full address -my e-mail is clive.driscoll@which.net. Please get in touch.

Finally, my thanks go to Marty Bell who took the trouble to alert me to Toms post via e-mail and who reaffirmed the generosity of 185 members in sharing their knowledge;information and spare parts with particular reference to Tom Brown who helped him also.

Kind Regards

Clive Driscoll

I emailed you to get your address, also I found another movement like yours, it has a balance wheel but the staff is broken. I will send you both movements when I hear back from you, the other one the staff is fine.

Hi Clive!

Welcome to the best Watch forum on the net!

You will love it here, some great friends and we share everything, welllllll sometimes we're quiet about some passion items. hehehe

Hey Tom,
The catalog number on that balance is 249 and it DOES match the one Clive has posted.

You can check it out here.

http://elginwatches.org/scans/tech_doc/1915_MC/m_pg023_balances.html

Balances are listed by CLASS numbers not grades.

Good luck everyone!!!
