After a recent search for old ads, articles and pictures, I came up with what are now the oldest photos of wristlets being worn.

1891, second Black Mountain Expedition North India.

1888, first Black Mountain Expedition, North India.

This is the best.
1888, First Black Mountain Expedition, North India.
Three different soldiers wearing wristlets.

Oldest advert for a man's wristlet and ladies bracelet watch, 1888. This advert is from the US, making it earlier than previously thought for men's wrist watches worn in the US too.

Thank you Lorne.
Here is another I have found in the last hour, yet again from 1888 in North India.
I cannot find any earlier yet, but have heard of some dating to 1885 and hope to discover them one day.

2nd. Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders, 1888.

Strange, I thought it was Tom Cruise!
He looks unhappy, maybe the other guys shaved his 'tache off in his sleep.
The guy with the wristlet on has a very petulant look, as if to say, "Why do I have to wear this ridiculous thing on my arm?".
