After a recent search for old ads, articles and pictures, I came up with what are now the oldest photos of wristlets being worn. 1891, second Black Mountain Expedition North India. Man seated in centre of pic. ![]() 1888, first Black Mountain Expedition, North India. Man at front. ![]() This is the best. 1888, First Black Mountain Expedition, North India. Three different soldiers wearing wristlets. ![]() Oldest advert for a man's wristlet and ladies bracelet watch, 1888. This advert is from the US, making it earlier than previously thought for men's wrist watches worn in the US too. ![]() | |||

Thank you Lorne. Here is another I have found in the last hour, yet again from 1888 in North India. I cannot find any earlier yet, but have heard of some dating to 1885 and hope to discover them one day. 2nd. Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders, 1888. ![]() | ||||

Strange, I thought it was Tom Cruise! He looks unhappy, maybe the other guys shaved his 'tache off in his sleep. The guy with the wristlet on has a very petulant look, as if to say, "Why do I have to wear this ridiculous thing on my arm?". | ||||
