I just got my first Casio G-Shock. It's the MTG-M900DA-8CR model. I got it new off of Amazon. It has all the bells and whistles, World Time, Alarms, Stopwatch, Countdown Timer, Solar Power, "Atomic" Time, and Auto-illumination. I decided I wanted a G-Shock for my collection and it was the one I liked the best. I had to take 6 links out of the band to make it fit my small wrist. The way it came, I think it was made for somebody like Andre the Giant.

I got a Vintage Armitron that is very much like the first digital watch I ever had back in 1978. I don't remember if the first one was gold toned but this one is. It's the model 40/6020 from 1977 or 78. The bracelet was a little tarnished but some metal polish fixed that and now it looks almost new. It runs and sets perfectly and it even came with the box for the ridiculous price of $23.50. They cost more than that new. They were like $100 back then.

Wearing my $300.00 Croton. Smile

(You have to see my bragging thread to understand the value)

And I am going to REALLY up the value when I make a new dot for the 40 minute mark. Just the brass disk with a pin back alone is going to be several hours labor, without considering time to install it, and to mix up and apply the luminous paint!

Thanks Mike glad you like it.
I think you are referring to the crystal guard or commonly known as shrapnel guard, this one is from that era from WW1 almost 100 years old.
I'll share some cases that had an integrated crystal guard

This guards were clip-on or held by the strap.

The idea was to protect the crystal especialy in the trenches.

This is my daily wear at the moment. Wonderful EOT Model 22, an homage to the Hamilton Model 22 deck chronometer. Keeps time to under a second a day...
