This is a very fine example of the Hamilton Dunkirk. It was first produced in 1937. Alas, Will Roseman's area of interest is in the "Classic Years", which he sees as ending in 1936. As a result, I don't know as much about this watch as other early solid gold Hamilton watches. Still, it is a very attractive, fairly large, and difficult to find "tank".

Very nice watch - I love the stepped or stacked cases from Hamilton during the 20's and 30's - this has a very simple, elegant look.

I will have to keep this model in the back of my mind

Not to steal your thread - but I received my Putnam today - what a stunning watch!

Keep the pictures and stories coming

For those unfamiliar with the case marks, "S&W" indicates the case was made by Schwab & Wuischpard who made many cases for Hamilton, up to 12-size. The current company of Wuischpard & Sons who advertise case repair are descendents of this firm.

A very fine watch, and quite scarce as well. Interestingly, this was one of only three watches that Hamilton offered with an optional black dial during the 1930s -- the others being the Otis and Seckron.
