Here's an entry into the wire lug category from Hamilton... although it is not a conversion since it came cased from the factory.
It is the company's first men's wristwatch... the large 0-size, grade 981 sterling silver "Cushion" model, which was introduced in 1919 and produced through 1923 until it was replaced by the smaller 6/0 size, grade 986 Cushion model. The crown is obviously a replacement.
Only 1,309 of these watches were produced in sterling, making it a very scarce model.
And here's a picture of the 981 movement from the watch above. It has some rather lovely and ornate damaskeening which most of Hamilton's later wristwatch movements lack.
