Help with a 14k case
I just got this nice little 14k Elgin tank, but there is a real problem with the case. It has this really tough glue stuck on the bezel. I tried to take it off with some rouge, then I tried to scrape it off gently. I think this may be the ultra violet stuff. Is there a safe way to remove this mess without damaging the case?

Well Scott, I usually soak an unkown origins mess like that in "Cutex Quick and Gentle" finger nail polish remover. It comes in a 6oz. plastic bottle, you'll find it's readily available, inexpensive and there's no offensive odor.

Just immerse completely and let it soak. Usually the adhesive comes off easily after a while.

I would start by soaking it in acetone or lacquer thinner. That will usually loosen epoxy.

Looks like Julian and I posted essentially the same answer at the same time! (Great minds think alike!) Acetone is the main ingredient in the Cutex product I recommended.
